Reno Aces vs. Tacoma Rainiers, 6:35 p.m., Greater Nevada Field, Reno

Community Café, 8 a.m.-12 p.m., Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, Reno

Honor Flight Nevada is organizing a community gathering and tailgater in the West Atlantis parking lot. Honor Flight Nevada is an organization that transports military veterans to Washington, DC to visit memorials and monuments dedicated to their service. Coffee and refreshments will be served.

Flag-In Placement, 8:30 a.m., Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Fernley

Volunteers are encouraged to help place flags in the cemetery ahead of Memorial Day ceremonies on Monday. For more details, visit the Nevada Department of Veteran Services Facebook page.

12 p.m. Celebration of Heroes Cruise, C Street, Virginia City

Virginia City will host a C Street cruise for participants in vehicles on Saturday afternoon; vehicle decoration is encouraged. Participants line up at Fourth Ward School, at the junction of US routes 342 and 341 at C Street. No walking group or spectator is allowed and it is forbidden to distribute sweets. Country dance at the Piper’s Opera House, 6 p.m., Piper’s Opera House, Virginia City

This guitarist / singer is back with his longtime band for this show in Tahoe. He is best known for songs such as “Bad to the Bone”, “I Drink Alone” and “Who Do You Love?” They play at 8 p.m. at the Montbleu Resort Casino Showroom, 55 Highway 50, Stateline. Memorial Day Ceremony, 8 a.m., Capitol Complex, Carson City

Governor Steve Sisolak will host a Remembrance Day ceremony at the Battle Born – Tribute to the Fallen Memorial, located behind the Nevada Library, Archives and Public Archives building at 100 N. Wearing Blue: Run to Remember Memorial Day Run, 8 a.m., Sparks Marina, Sparks

A “living memorial” will be held around Sparks Marina with a walk / run to honor the more than 65,000 servicemen killed since the start of the Vietnam War. Participation is free and registration is compulsory. Visit the Nevada Veterans Memorial Plaza Facebook Page for more details.

2 p.m. Memorial Day Cruise, Northern Nevada State Veterans House, Sparks

The Vietnam Veterans of America – Sierra Nevada Chapter Post # 989 is hosting a cruise in honor of the residents of the State Veterans House. Members of the public are encouraged to decorate their own vehicle and assemble in the parking lot of the house before 1:00 p.m. The cruise starts at 2 p.m. For more details, visit the Nevada Department of Veteran Services Facebook page.

Tuesday June 1

Nevada Veterans Memorial Plaza Phase 2 Grand Opening, 10:30 a.m., Marina Sparks, Sparks

The second phase of the memorial at Sparks Marina officially begins Tuesday with a groundbreaking ceremony by Sparks Mayor Ed Lawson, members of City Council and members of the Nevada Veterans Memorial Plaza team. For more details, visit the organization’s website at nvmp.us.
