Police find stolen vehicle after armed robbery in still wanted suspect Iola
IOLA, Kan. – Authorities in Southeast Kansas say the vehicle stolen after an armed robbery at Cash Advance America in Iola was found near Humboldt. The suspect, Aaron Hutton, has not been located.
The Chanute Police Department said the stolen vehicle was found near the Southwind Rail Trail, near Humboldt. They say the evidence leads them to believe Hutton is still alive and in the area.
The crime happened on August 21. The Iola Police Department said suspect Aaron Hutton robbed the company at the point of a pistol wearing a skull mask. He escaped with money, the cell phone and the cashier’s vehicle.
Authorities later found Hutton at his brother’s home in Humboldt. Hutton ran and was quickly found entering the Neosho River on the west side of Humboldt.
The police finally lost sight of him.
During the manhunt, authorities found a black and red bag containing clothes, two hats, a skull mask, money and a loaded weapon. They found him where Hutton entered the river.
Police say Hutton is considered armed and dangerous.
Investigators are also investigating a possible link between him and a stolen truck. They found the truck west of Humboldt. He was apparently out of gas.
Anyone with information about these incidents or Aaron Hutton’s whereabouts is urged to contact their local law enforcement or the local CPD central dispatch center at (620) 431-5768.
