LASALLE – The Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs has relaunched ‘Operation Rising Spirit’, calling on service organizations, volunteers and residents of Illinois to continue to boost veterans’ morale at veterans homes of the State in LaSalle. This letter-writing effort is part of a month-long activity led by the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs leading up to Veterans Day on November 11. Other efforts include Veterans in the Service of Veterans, a campaign featuring veteran employees of IDVA.

“Operation Rising Spirit is an effort to boost the morale of our veterans during the pandemic as it has been difficult to be isolated, away from families and to deal with the uncertainty of COVID-19,” said said Acting Director Terry Prince. “Our veterans courageously served our nation and once again showed bravery when offered the vaccine, as nearly 99% of our residents are fully immunized. The simple gesture of a note of appreciation can boost morale and change a day.
