The University of Maine at Augusta has been designated a military friendly school. According to a press release from the university, the achievement of military friendly school gold status recognizes the student-centered “beyond-the-line” approach UMA offers its community.

“We are grateful that our military service members, veterans and their families have chosen WBU to pursue their educational goals,” said WBU Acting President Joseph Szakas. “This designation recognizes the commitment of WBU faculty and staff to supporting our students and ensuring their success.”

“We are honored to receive this designation and achieve Gold Medal status,” said Amy Line, WBU Director of Military and Veterans Services. “This is in keeping with WBU’s long history of being a welcoming community for those who have served or are currently serving and their families. At the University Veterans Center on the Augusta campus and the Veterans Lounge on the Bangor campus, our service members and veterans find comrades with shared experiences and an integrated support system upon arrival.
